Yes it is very easy to rent a car in Australia. You will need a international driving permit. You will need to leave your credit card details with the company. To find a company, just type in hire car, and then whatever city you are flying into. If you are going to be sleeping in a van, it can make your trip cheaper, as you will be paying for your accommodation and transport in one. One tip, if you are going to get a van, get one with a whirly bird as these get rid of a lot of smells.
