My partner and I are not in Australia yet but we were looking for jobs on gumtree and found one in a tiny town in South Australia - the nearest city is Adelaide but even that's 6 hours away. The job is at a hotel doing bar work and working in their shop. The manager is supposed to be calling to talk to us tomorrow and I've looked at the hotels website/facebook page so it all seems legitimate. But I've suddenly started worrying because I've heard some horror stories about people getting stuck in these tiny towns with terrible jobs. It seemed like a good idea to me because I was thinking we would be earning good money as well as getting accommodation compared with living in a city where I could imagine I'd spend heaps.
What have other people's experiences been? Anyone else picked up hotel work in rural areas?
Adelaide Anyone done bar work in small town South Australia?
